Extending pain management beyond the clinic

The Situation

Managing ongoing pain often depends heavily on what patients experience between medical appointments, yet traditional outpatient care gives clinicians only intermittent visibility into that experience.

Patients may go days or weeks before discussing changes in pain levels, symptoms, or treatment effectiveness with their providers. By the time the next appointment takes place, important changes may have been forgotten, difficult to reconstruct, or captured only through the patient's recollection.

Naviio Health set out to create a more continuous model of pain management in which patients and providers could remain connected between visits.

The Solution

We worked with Naviio Health to develop a digital platform for asynchronous pain management and patient-provider collaboration.

Patients could regularly record how they were feeling, track changes in their pain, and share that information with their care team without needing to schedule an appointment for every interaction.

Providers could review a patient's reported history over time, follow changes between visits, and maintain greater visibility into the patient's ongoing condition.

The platform was designed to complement traditional outpatient care with a continuous stream of patient-reported information, helping clinicians make more informed decisions while giving patients an easier way to communicate what was happening outside the clinic.
